I keep believing that artist is NOT a title, it is a character, a lifestyle; HOW DO YOU DARE TO CALL YOURSELF AN ARTIST?!
Nowadays, so many artists, so many musicians, so many writers, so many whatever... I look at myself, I honestly do NOT dare to call myself anything - not an architect, and do not even mention writer. It just so happens that I enjoy writing so damn much, just so happens that I love to let my imagination taking wild flights, and just so happens that I "can" write, but it absolutely does not grant me the name writer - hell no! Not even close! Do respect the real writers! Now, think about yourself (for whatever art form you do), IT IS JUST WAY MORE THAN THIS!!!
When people have the beautiful talk about "who we truly are?", they say things like we should not let what we do to define who we are, blah blah blah... when I think deeper about it, I ask: why not? In fact, I EXACTLY want what I do to define my life and how I live. I really want writing to be my life, or even, that's all I do. I just think that if you want to be a writer, you have to live like a writer; if you want to be an artist, LIVE like an artist! Once again, it is about life! If I ought to be a writer, I want to do it to a point that I am proud to say out loud that I am a writer when people ask me who I am, and that they will agree that I really live for writing. I do not mind at all that people do not remember me as my name but me as a writer, as a story teller. The point is how you see what you do and how you do what you ought to do. Of course it would mean nothing, if you just take it as a title. And of course you cannot let a title to define your life - it will just lead to an empty destination - nothing. However, if you take it seriously, if you do it seriously, it is your life! Yes, it is THIS SERIOUS!
So, ARTISTS, all kinds of artist, if you dare to call yourself one, be one! I mean BE ONE! If you do not bet your life on it, then SHUT THE F**K UP! Moreover, if you think u are BEING one, think and re-think and think deeper what it truly means to BE ONE, and what it takes to BE ONE? PLEASE!! I beg you to do so! It is a disrespect for the real artists if you call yourself one while you are not. Think THINK!!! Once again, it is more than just what it is and what it does, but it is a lifestyle (at least I believe so) . Therefore, does it just take being-good-technically to be one? just aiming-for-perfection to be one? just having-a-vision to be one? etc. These may just be part of it, a tiny part of it...

How I want to reach the state when people talk about me, they will just say "he does nothing but draw".
It's way easier to "talk" about it than really getting ones' hands dirty to create, fail, strive and keep creating. It's way easier to "talk" about how great your work will be than presenting your work in front of the world and let others criticizing your nakedness.
I think this also applies to any profession. We should really stop talking before getting there.
totally not easy... really really a long way to go... and in fact a lifetime to go... but i truly want to do it... i wish..........
