urban sprawl

"I love nature~!"
"Oh! I adore the environment~!"
etc.
etc.
etc.

living far from the city, living close to the woods... I can't help but enjoy it... but then looking at the green belt just beside the houses, I also can't help but to think of what we have destroyed in order to build the so-called dream homes.

today while i was jogging in the neighborhood once again, while I was appreciating the birds singing around me, the word "urban sprawl" keeps hitting my head, it seems like the birds were complaining to me how I have destroyed their homeland... sad... pretty sad...

I saw a deer across my home before, was he looking for his playground he was once there meeting his girlfriend the first time?

ok, I may leave what I said, despite how the land was once used to be a beautiful forest, how about think of how much CO2 we produce by traveling to the city everyday? how about we think about how much more gasoline we consume? how much more energy we waste because of the lower land efficiency (ie. lower population concentration per square footage of land), etc.

hmmm.... but what does it mean? what do we do? more high-rises? more concentrated within the cities? how should we build? how should building incorporate into nature? lots of, lots of questions... is there really right or wrong for everything? how do we choose how we live? I am not even trying to make a statement here, I am unable to... this is just what bothers me this morning.
